About Us

Holy Cross Catholic School was founded by Sisters of Saint Mary of Oregon (SSMO) in 1912 to instruct boys as a boarding school. The building was located on the corner of Hodge and Oberlin. Two years later Archbishop Christie asked the Sisters to teach boys and girls in the North Portland area near the University of Portland. Holy Cross Parish and Church grew and the current school building has served children in grades 1st through 8th since 1963. In the year 2000 kindergarten was added so we now serve grades K-8. Our school is open to all denominations and all children who have a desire to learn and work hard to be their best.
